Buying at Welwyn Auctions

Key Information for Bidders

Welwyn Auctions hosts monthly online auctions featuring a carefully curated selection of antique, vintage, estate and contemporary jewellery. All lots are examined by qualified gemmologists using industry-standard testing equipment.

Viewing Before You Bid

We strongly encourage all buyers to inspect items before bidding. You can view lots during auction week through:

  • Private video call appointments
  • Private in-person appointments on Wednesday and Thursday
  • General public viewing from Friday to Sunday

If you have any questions about a lot, please contact us for additional information or a condition report before placing a bid.

Bidding

Bidding is simple and straightforward. Once you have created an account and registered to bid, simply place bids on the lots that interest you.

  • You will receive notifications if you are outbid.
  • Bids placed near closing time automatically extend the auction, giving all bidders a fair opportunity to participate.
Please remember, every bid is a legally binding commitment to purchase if you are the successful bidder.
Condition and Descriptions

Our catalogue descriptions, condition reports and gemmological assessments are provided in good faith and represent our professional opinions. However, they should be used as a guide only and not relied upon as statements of fact.

Many items offered are antique, vintage or estate pieces and may show signs of age, wear, repair, restoration or alteration. The absence of a comment regarding condition does not mean an item is free from defects, and a reference to one issue does not imply the absence of others.

For this reason, buyers should satisfy themselves regarding the condition, authenticity and suitability of a lot before bidding by attending a viewing, requesting further information or seeking independent advice.

As with all Australian auctions, items are sold "as is".
